Galentine’s Day Entertaining

Pop Parties - Galentine's Day Entertaining - Event Planner

In my life, I don’t have a lot of free time, which is what inspired our Galentine’s Day soiree. Between producing over 40 events a year, managing clients and event details, constantly working on new marketing and sales strategies, and pushing myself to be the best business owner I can be – I’m lucky to get a Sunday to myself. The days of heading to yoga, going to brunch, and watching ‘The Bachelor’ seem to be consumed by social media scheduling and constantly playing catchup on client timelines. My friends mostly work 9-5 jobs and have Saturday/Sunday off, which is when I’m in event production mode, and we just can’t seem to line our schedules up.

Part of why I love event planning so much is because of the community it brings together. A community of talented professionals who I love working with day in and day out. A community of family and friends who get to attend the beautiful soiree’s we put together. But here, at 28, I find myself watching time fly by. The people I really love, I sometimes am only able to see three times a year (shoutout to Kate Leary) – and I knew that it was time to make a change.

I’ve always loved entertaining. In fact, when we purchased our first home, I knew that I had to have a layout that was conducive to having parties (duh). Somewhere the guys can crowd around the TV and watch the game, while the girls chat it up over bubbles in the kitchen or formal living. After all, life wouldn’t be much fun without sharing our laughs with the people we love, right? So, I wanted to put my love of entertaining into full swing in 2017. One of my personal goals is to bring people together, for myself, each month. In that process I’ll be sharing with you some fun tips, products, and DIY projects that I’ve been putting together to host my own parties.

I hope that you enjoy our first in the Pop Entertaining series – Galentine’s Day – because I know that I did! It was so much fun to have the girls over for dinner, over some bright lively colors. Today, I encourage you to put together a party. Host something fun for your co-workers, celebrate a special moment in your life, or just get the girls together for something more than the ordinary dinner date at the nearest wine bar. You’ll be glad you took some extra time to make new memories with the people you love most. Of course, I was able to go shopping for some fun new pieces too.

My house is LITERALLY 50 shades of grey, and it was really fun to add a pop of color into the dining room to give it some life. The Galentine’s Day party was all centered around the girls. Things that we struggle with in relationships, body image, fad diets, and of course FOOD. These plates were the perfect addition to my gal-pal party, I mean – they really say it all. How cute is the scale detailing around the outside? The perfect “oh screw it” dessert plate!

One thing no party should go without? Fun cocktail napkins. They are a cheap, fun way to add something extra to your party. You can have them customized or you can buy a set to go with your theme at a cute party store that sells some better items. These cute gold and pink ones are from Swoozie’s – one of my go-to spots for a quick and easy party pick up.

Puppy in Chief of Pop Parties, Lucy was even in attendance. Being the crazy dog mom I am, Lucy even had a top valentines pick for pups, with these adorable heart shaped squeaky’s from Bark Shop.

Tabletop settings are important, no one likes looking at a bare table. Now, it doesn’t have to be over the top, and you don’t have to have 24 carat flatware to make a statement. Keep it lush and filling to create a really fun atmosphere for your guests. That could mean lots of inexpensive dollar store candles – like these pink ones! Or fun florals to add some color to your room.

Last thing! Have a big statement piece that stands out. For me – I have NO art on my walls in my house (remember I said I was sort of busy? Yeah, art isn’t exactly on my top priority list.) But, my walls are so bare I knew that I had to do something. These fun XO balloons added the perfect “art work” to the walls for a really affordable cost.

Thanks for taking some time to read about our cute Galentine’s Day soiree. I had a wonderful time having everyone over and can’t wait for the next one!
