Rustic Southern Soiree

Filled with several southern touches, Allie and Josh’s wedding perfectly complement their love for both Texas and North Carolina respectively. From the hand drawn invitation, to the 65 year old cake topper – also used by the bride’s grandparents and parents – their personal touches reflected their thoughtfulness and love for family and friends. Guests dined on a bride and groom favorite of southern fried chicken, drank local brews, and enjoyed the “biscuit bar” grooms cake. Allie chose a palette of burgundy, dusty blue and dusty rose which was complimented by fall greenery and her best friends. The rustic venue featured crystal chandelier accents to make for the perfect setting for their southern soiree.

their love story

After Josh graduated from the University of North Carolina he worked in a research lab on the UNC campus.  In 2013, Josh’s boss decided to move the lab to UT Southwestern in Dallas and Josh made the move to keep his job. During this time Allie’s friend Cheyenne dared her to try a new dating app with her. They wanted to get out and start dating, to stop being the third, fifth, and even eleventh wheel!  Soon enough Josh and Allie “swiped right” for each other and met for the first time to get dinner. There they decided life was better together.  This simple swipe started a long distance relationship and eventual engagement, and a 1,183 mile move from Texas to North Carolina to be husband as wife.

It’s back to school time and that means it’s time for homecoming proposals, mums, and voting on prom themes! We love the creativity and originality that goes into high school social events, which make them some of our favorite things to plan. Have you ever dreamed of being a wedding planner one day? Pop Parties is currently seeking part time wedding and event assistants to join our dynamic team.

event assistants job description:

In this fast-paced industry, events require great attention to detail and management of many simultaneous tasks. Event planning assistants perform a variety of tasks, from carrying out office duties, to interacting with high-profile individuals to ensure event success.

Roles include phone calls for vendor confirmations, timeline distribution, and event setup. As the right hand to one of our lead planners, you’ll learn the in’s and out’s of the wedding and event industry. You will help to ensure successful event flows, and gain experience in order to further your career in this high energy field.

Attend networking events, with our team and partner with some of the nation’s best vendors.  Pop Parties produces high end weddings, corporate events, and social gatherings. Our team is looking for part event assistants with the possibility of full time employment in the future. Approximately 15-20 flexible hours per week would be required. Duties will take place in office, and on location for events around the DFW area. Wages will be paid on an hourly, 1099 basis.

the ideal candidate should:

  • is interested in a career in the fast paced wedding and events field
  • be organized and efficient in meeting deadlines
  • enjoy creative environments and/or design
  • work well in a fast paced environment
  • have strong problem solving abilities
  • own a laptop computer
  • proficient in MS Office and willingness to learn other event tech platforms
  • carry themselves in a classy, professional manner
  • take direction well from superiors
  • have an open mind and willingness to learn
  • 1-3 years of event planning encouraged (could include sorority involvement, volunteer experiences, or high school planning roles)
